For Sunday Oct. 17, 2010

Today, it will be cloudy with a chance of rain. Our warm southerly air continues to interact with the cooler northern air, producing rain.
Winds will be N to NE, ranging in strength from 10 to 15 mph. Waves will be 1 to 4 feet in height.
The large, disorganized area of showers and thunderstorms which is SE of us, off Nicaragua, is nearly stationary.
It is very slowly drifting west, northwestward. This motion is expected to continue for the next day or two.
It now has a 20% chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours. This system has the potential for further development and bears watching.
Elsewhere, no other tropical storm formation is expected in the next 24 hours.

The air temperatures will be in the high 70s (F) to the low 80s or 24 to 25 (C).

At depth, ocean water temperatures are about 82F to 85F or 27C to 29C. Surface temperatures are lower and vary greatly due to the heavy rainfall which occurred recently.
