For Saturday, Oct. 09, 2010

Today, it will be sunny with a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms.
Winds will continue to be strong and from the N to NE: ranging in strength from
5 to 20 mph or higher. Waves will be 1 to 4 feet in height or higher.
The 1009 mb surface low that formed yesterday near 14N x 79W or about
525 miles ESE of us remains nearly stationary. On this morning’s satellite imagery,
it appears to be better organized with some cyclonic counter clockwise rotation
to it.The NHC is giving this system a 20% chance of developing into a tropical
cyclone in the next 48 hours. This low is part of a larger surface trough which
will continue to dominate our weather through at least Wednesday.
All interests in the Bay Islands should monitor the progress of this system
for further development.

Elsewhere in the tropics
Hurricane Otto remains in the Atlantic. It does not pose a threat to us.
Other tropical cyclone formation is not expected in the next 24 hours.

The air temperatures will be in the high 70s (F) to the low 80s or 24 to 25 (C).

At depth, ocean water temperatures are about 85F to 87F or 29C to 30C.
Surface temperatures are lower and vary greatly due to the heavy rainfall
which occurred earlier this week.
