9pm Update 98L, Sat. Oct. 09, 2010

As of 8pm EDT, this evening, 98L was centered about 400 miles ESE of the Bay Islands. It is moving NW at 10 to 15 mph with maximum winds of  25 mph. It is becoming better organized. If it continues on this course it will be over us on Tuesday, near or at tropical storm strength (35 to 65 mph). The NHC is now giving this system a 60% chance of becoming a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours. The saving grace here, is that like Matthew, it does not have a lot of room to develop. The computer models are still showing a fairly wide divergence in tracks. Ultimately, this storm will either make landfall in Nicaragua or pull up North of West of us and pass NE of the Bay Islands. It is still too early to tell which path it will chose to follow.
All interests in the Bay Islands and on the North Coast of Honduras should monitor the progress of this system.
