The Tropical Weather Outlook
For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:1. Gulf of Mexico - Active convection in the N central and NE Gulf will persist through today. A trough will develop each afternoon over the Yucatan Peninsula before pushing offshore into the SW Gulf and dissipating during the overnight hours. Otherwise...a surface ridge will extend across the northern Gulf through early next week.
2. Caribbean Sea - A tropical wave in the central Caribbean will reach the W Caribbean Fri. An active surface trough will move through the Leeward Islands today. Another tropical wave will move into the tropical N Atlantic Fri...and reach the E Caribbean Sat...the central Caribbean Sun...and the W Caribbean Mon.
3. Tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the next 5 days.
4. Tropical Waves...
4a. Tropical wave extends from 08N23W to 18N22W moving W at 10-15 kt. The wave coincides with subtle 700 mb troughing between 22W-27W. No significant deep convection is occurring with the wave at this time.
4b. Tropical wave extends from 09N46W to 20N45W moving W at 10 kt. The wave coincides with a 700 mb troughing as depicted in the global models between 43W-52W and a maximum in 850 mb relative vorticity in the vicinity of the wave axis near 20N. No significant convection is occurring with the wave at this time.
4c. Tropical wave extends from 11N71W to 20N70W moving W at 15 kt. The wave coincides with broad 700 mb troughing between 69W-76W.
