The Tropical Weather Outlook
For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:1. Gulf of Mexico - A ridge extending from N Florida to the Texas Mexico border will re-orient E to W across the N Gulf coast tonight through late this week. A coastal trough will begin to develop during the afternoons across the W Gulf beginning on Tue. A very moist airmass will support showers and tstms the next few days.
2. Caribbean Sea - A surface trough will drift W across the central Caribbean today accompanied by tstms. A tropical wave along 56W will cross the E Caribbean tonight...the central Caribbean Mon night...and W Caribbean Tue and Wed. Another wave will reach the Atlantic waters Wed and the E Caribbean Thu. Fresh to strong trades are expected across the central Caribbean throughout the forecast period.
3. Tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the next 5 days.
4. Tropical Waves...
4a. A tropical wave is in the E Atlantic with axis extending from 18N19W to 07N19W, moving west at 15 kt. The wave is in a moist environment with good 700 mb signature. Scattered moderate convection is from 05N-14N between 16W-24W.
4b. A tropical wave is in the E Atlantic with axis extending from 19N36W to 09N36W, moving west at 10 kt within the last 24 hours. Despite the fact that TPW imagery depicts moderate moisture in this wave's environment, no convection is observed at this time as Saharan dust and neutral to unfavorable deep-layer wind shear combine to inhibit any activity.
4c. A tropical wave is reaching the southeastern Caribbean with axis extending from 15N58W to 04N59W, moving W at 20-25 kt within the last 24 hours. TPW imagery depicts moderate moisture within this wave. However, no significant convection is related to the northern portion of this feature at this time as deep-layer wind shear prevails across the area. Scattered moderate convection is observed across the southern portion of the wave S of Barbados from 09N-12N between 56W-61W.
4d. A tropical wave extends across the Yucatan Peninsula with axis from 20N90W to 10N91W, moving west at 10 kt within the last 24 hours. The wave is in a region of favorable to neutral deep-layer wind shear that supports scattered moderate convection over northern Central America and the Yucatan Peninsula.
