The CoCoView Resort Weather Forecast

Monday August 06, 2012 – Update No. 1
Based on the NHC Forecast Advisory at 11am EDT, the center of Ernesto will pass to the north of CoCoView. It is forecast to be a Category 1 Hurricane. The eye of the storm is currently about 400 miles (644 km) away. If the system keeps moving at its current speed of 9 mph and directly towards us, it will take around 44.5 hours* (Wednesday, August 8 at 7:30AM EDT) to reach Roatan. Given the current wind field (125 miles from the center), tropical storm winds will be felt in 30.6 hours (Tuesday, 5:36PM EDT).


The Tropical Weather Outlook
TS Ernesto continues to move westward (285º). Its forward speed has slowed to 9 mph. At 11am EDT, TS Ernesto was located at 15.8N, 80.5W or about 405 miles, E by S (102º) of Roatan. Maximum sustained winds are 65 mph and the barometric pressure has dropped to 994 mb. Based on current satellite imagery, it appears to be getting better organized and intensifying.
This system does pose a threat to the Bay Islands and North Coast of Honduras, and all interests, especially those on the north side of the islands, should monitor its progress. A tropical storm watch has been issued for the Bay Islands and North Coast of Honduras.
