1300 LT, Fri. Sept 24, 2010 _Update on tropical storm Matthew

At noon today TS Matthew was centered at 14.6 N x 83.0 W. It was about 30 miles SSE of Gracias Adios or about 260 miles SSE of Roatan.

Maximum sustained winds are 50 mph. Matthew is moving west or 275 degrees at18mph.
The minimum pressure was 998millibars or 29.47 inches of mercury. The latest consensus
of computer models is that it will continue due west across Honduras. See Fig 3.

At 11:50am LT, the NOAA weather buoy 42057 was registering winds of 31mph gusting to
40mph. The wind was out of the east or 100 degrees.

The significant wave height was 12 feet and the dominant wave period was 8 seconds.
It is about 330 miles NNE of the Bay Islands. See this link.NOAA Weather Buoy 42057 .
