The Tropical Weather Outlook
For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:1. Low pressure developing over the Yucatan Peninsula by tonight will move N-NE into the eastern Gulf of Mexico. Gale force winds are possible E of 85W Sun night and Mon as the low deepens and moves into northern Florida. Northerly winds late Mon and Tue will veer easterly Wed as high pressure builds across the northern gulf.
2. Low pressure developing over Central America tonight will deepen across the Yucatan Peninsula Sun and the SE Gulf of Mexico Sun night. Strong SE winds are expected east of the low in the NW Caribbean tonight through Sun night as the system develops. Fresh to occasionally strong winds are expected in the south-central Caribbean near the Colombia and Venezuela through Mon.
3. Widespread cloudiness and thunderstorms over the western Caribbean Sea remain disorganized. A low pressure system is expected to form in association with this disturbed weather over the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico or the adjacent waters by Sunday and drift generally northward. Despite strong upper-level winds, this low is likely to develop into a tropical cyclone as it subsequently moves northeastward across the south-central and eastern Gulf of Mexico early next week. Regardless of development, locally heavy rains and flooding are possible over portions of the Yucatan Peninsula, western Cuba and the Florida Peninsula during the next several days.
