The Tropical Weather Outlook
For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:1. Winds and seas will decrease today across the eastern Gulf of Mexico as TS Colin accelerates away from the area. High pressure will prevail across the basin through Wed. A weak frontal boundary will reach the northern Gulf coast Wed night then dissipate along 28N through Thu night.
2. Fresh southerly winds in the NW Caribbean will diminish today. Fresh to occasional strong E winds are expected near the coast of Colombia Wed night through Sat. Tropical wave along 65W will reach the central Caribbean Wed...move into the W Caribbean Thu night...then into Central America Sat.
3. Surface and aircraft data indicate that the center of TS Colin has moved off of the coast of Georgia into the Atlantic. Overall, the system does not look very tropical. However, a large area of deep convection has been persisting east and southeast of the center during the night. Aircraft data and ship reports suggest that the maximum winds remain near 45 kt, mainly to the southeast of the center.
