For Thursday Nov. 04, 2010

Skies will be increasingly cloudy with numerous squalls. The first of two, strong cold fronts in the Gulf of Mexico, has reached the Yucatan Straits and is moving off to the SE. The second, strong cold front has entered the NW Gulf. Look for increasing north winds. Today winds will be NW to N at 15 to 20 mph and stronger. Waves will be 1 to 4 feet in height or higher. These cold fronts will dominate our weather for the next few days.

Tomas is a tropical storm. It is still expected to restrengthen into a hurricane in the next 48 hours. It has finally begun its long awaited turn to the north. The maximum sustained winds were 50mph. Minimum central pressure has decreased to 998 mb. It is moving NNW at 6 mph.
All interests in the Bay Islands and on the North Coast of Honduras should continue to monitor Tomas’ track for the next day or so.

The air temperatures will be in the high 70s (F) to the low 80s or 24 to 25 (C).

At depth, ocean water temperatures are about 81F to 84F or 26C to 28C.
