For Monday Nov. 01, 2010

Our skies will be mostly sunny with a possibility of scattered rain showers. A cold front will move off the Gulf coast on Tuesday. Winds will be NE to E at 10 to 15 mph. Waves will be 1 to 4 feet in height.
Tomas has weakened to a tropical storm. It is expected to restrengthen back into a hurricane on Friday. At 5am EDT, it was located about 1260 miles E by S (1010) of Roatan. The maximum sustained winds were 50mph. Minimum central pressure was 1003 mb. It is moving W at 12 mph.
This morning’s 5 day forecast track still has it heading due west towards the Honduras-Nicaragua border. The consensus of the computer models remains that it will begin a turn to the NE well before it reaches there. It is still highly uncertain when, and where the storm will make this turn. Also, remember 5 day forecasts can be 200 to 300 miles in error.
This is a very large and dangerous storm system. Therefore, all interests in the Bay Islands and on the North Coast of Honduras should continue to monitor Tomas’ track.

The air temperatures will be in the high 70s (F) to the low 80s or 24 to 25 (C).

At depth, ocean water temperatures are about 81F to 84F or 26C to 28C.
