The Tropical Weather Outlook
For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:
1. A stationary front extends from the Florida Big Bend to 24N95W to 18N94W. The southern portion of the front will shift slowly eastward the next couple of days while the northern portion moves SE as a cold front. The cold front will extend from Tampa Bay, Florida to 23N92W tonight...and from southern Florida to 22N93W Sat. Gale force winds will develop W of the front tonight and persist through Sat night primarily offshore of the coast of Veracruz, Mexico. A reinforcing northerly surge on Sun will move the entire front SE of the Gulf of Mexico by Sun night.
2. The gradient between Atlantic high pressure and low pressure across northern Colombia will maintain fresh to strong trades across most of the Caribbean...with near gale to gale force winds continuing along the NW coast of Colombia through today. Winds will diminish across the area during the weekend as the pressure gradient weakens due to an eastward shift of the central Atlantic subtropical high. A cold front will enter the Yucatan Channel Mon...and stall from central Cuba to the Gulf of Honduras Tue.
3. The SAL has decreased in area and in density.
