Today, expect partly sunny skies with high level cloudiness. Look for scattered showers
and thunderstorms to occur. Winds will be NW to N, ranging in strength from 5 to
15 mph. Waves will be 1 to 4 feet in height.
The surface trough mentioned in previous forecasts continues to dominate our weather
and we remain in the outer edge of its backside. Early this morning, it reached from
eastern Cuba into the SW Caribbean. It will continue to drift SE before turning
stationary.
A very weak cold front will enter the northern Gulf of Mexico later today.
Else where in the tropics
The large area of disturbed weather in the Atlantic Ocean, designated 97L continues
to move westward to west-northwestward at 10 to 15 mph. There now is a
10% chance that it will become a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours. This
system poses no immediate threat to us.
The air temperatures will be in the low to mid 80s (F) or 27 - 29 (C).
