For Wednesday Oct. 20, 2010
Again, today, our skies will be partly cloudy, with a possibility of scattered rain showers.
Winds will be light and variable. Waves will be 1 to 3 feet in height.
The center of the low pressure system, 99L is about 260 miles NE of us.
It will remain nearly stationary through Thursday.
Upper level winds are barely inhibiting further development of 99L.
Only a small increase in the organization of thunderstorm activity is needed for it to
become a tropical depression. Hence, 99L has a 70% chance or better,
of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours.
The NHC is predicting that 99L will start drifting southwestward on Friday.
Then, over the weekend make landfall near Cape Gracias Adios, possibly
as a tropical depression or storm.
Consequently, all interests in the Bay Islands and on the North Coast of Honduras
should monitor this storm system for further development.
Another Hurricane Hunter flight is scheduled to fly into this system later this morning.
The air temperatures will be in the high 70s (F) to the low 80s or 24 to 25 (C).
At depth, ocean water temperatures are about 82F to 85F or 27C to 29C.
At depth, ocean water temperatures are about 82F to 85F or 27C to 29C.
Surface temperatures are lower and vary greatly due to the heavy rainfall
