Richard remains a tropical storm. Right here at CoCoView there is light rain and the wind seems to be in the 25 mph to 30 mph range with occasional gusts to 35mph.
At 2pm LT, Richard is centered about 60 miles due east of us...which puts the center very near Guanaja.
It is still a tropical storm but since its track, now begins to take it out over open water, I expect it to start strengthening as it passes us to the north. It will make landfall in Belize, sometime late Sunday or very early Monday morning.
Currently maximum sustained winds are 70mph. Barometric pressure remains steady at 995 millibars . It is tracking WNW or 285 degrees. Forward speed has increased slightly to 10mph. Dry air to the NW and land interaction seem to still be inhibiting the intensification of Richard. It remains a relatively small storm. There still is no clear eye visible on the satellite imagery, I have viewed; but I expect that to change as the day dawns.
Look for my next post between 7am and 8am LT.
