 For Sunday Oct. 31, 2010

Our skies will be mostly sunny with a possibility of scattered rain showers.
Another cold front is forecast to move off the Gulf coast on Tuesday.
Expect this weather pattern to hold through today and most of next week.
Winds will be NE to E at 10 to 15 mph. Waves will be 1 to 4 feet in height.
Hurricane Tomas is now Category 2 storm. At 5am EDT was located
about 1500 miles E by S (1010) of Roatan. The maximum sustained winds
were 85mph. Minimum central pressure was 983 mb. It is moving WNW
at 8 mph. This morning’s 5 day forecast track still has it heading for Jamaica.
The consensus of the computer models remains that it will begin a turn to
the NE before it reaches Jamaica. However, remember 5 day forecasts can
200 to 300 miles in error and Jamaica is less than 700 miles to the E by N
(780) of Roatan. This is a very large and dangerous storm system. Therefore,
all interests in the Bay Islands and on the North Coast of Honduras should
monitor Tomas’ track because it is still highly uncertain when, and where the
storm will turn to the NE.

The air temperatures will be in the high 70s (F) to the low 80s or 24 to 25 (C).

At depth, ocean water temperatures are about 81F to 84F or 26C to 28C.

 For Saturday Oct. 30, 2010

Our skies will be partly cloudy with rain. This rain is due to a cold front which
is on a line from the Florida Straits to the Bay of Campeche. It is forecast to
stall and dissipate later today. Another cold front is forecast to move off the
Gulf coast on Tuesday. Expect this weather pattern to hold through the
weekend and most of next week. Winds will be NE to E at 10 to 15 mph.
Waves will be 1 to 4 feet in height.
Elsewhere in the tropics, TS Shary is now a hurricane out in the Atlantic Ocean.
This system is not a threat to us.
The strong tropical wave mentioned in yesterday’s forecast is now TS Tomas.
It will become a hurricane later today. At 5am EDT it was located about 1800
miles E by S (1010) of Roatan. The maximum sustained winds were 70mph.
Minimum central pressure was 994 mb. It is moving WNW at 15 mph.
This morning’s 5 day forecast track has it heading directly for Jamaica.
The consensus of the computer models is that it will begin a turn to the NE
before it reaches Jamaica. However, remember 5 day forecasts can 200 to
300 miles in error and Jamaica is less than 700 miles to the E by N (780
of Roatan.
This is a very large and dangerous storm system. Therefore, all interests in the
Bay Islands and on the North Coast of Honduras should monitor Tomas’ track
because it is still highly uncertain when, where and if the storm will turn to the NE.

I will post an update with graphics later today.

Have a nice day!

The air temperatures will be in the high 70s (F) to the low 80s or 24 to 25 (C).

At depth, ocean water temperatures are about 81F to 84F or 26C to 28C.

 For Thursday Oct. 28, 2010

Our skies will be mostly sunny, with high level clouds. Strong winds and high seas will
continue today. Winds will be ESE at 10 to 15 mph or greater.  Waves will be 2 to 4
feet in height and occasionally higher. They will begin to moderate on Friday, as a cold
front enters the Gulf of Mexico later today. Elsewhere in the tropics, the two large
areas of disturbed weather in the Atlantic Ocean have become better organized. They
now have a 50% to 60% chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 48
hours. These systems currently are not a threat to us. Of more concern to us, is a
strong tropical wave which is about 2500 miles ESE of Roatan, out in the Atlantic
Ocean. It is traveling at 15 to 20 mph in a W to WNW direction. This system has a
20% chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours. If this system
continues to develop, it could become a threat to us in the next week to ten days.
