Thursday August 02, 2012

The air temperatures will range from the low 80s (ºF) to the low 90s (ºF) or 26ºC to 32ºC.
Ocean water temperatures are 82 to 83ºF or 26 to 27ºC. Visibility is generally 20 to 80 feet.
The Tropical Weather Outlook
Invest 99L has strengthened and now is TD5. This system is still poorly organized and significant strengthening is not expected today. It is moving westward (280º) at 21 mph. Early this morning, TD5 was located at 12.9N, 53.5W or about 2200 miles, E by S (100º) of Roatan. Maximum sustained winds are 35 mph and the barometric pressure is 1008 mb. A Hurricane Hunter flight is scheduled for this afternoon.
TD5 may strengthen and become TS Ernesto over the weekend. Reliable computer models are not in good agreement about its intensification or future path as it moves west towards us. If it maintains its current path and direction, it should pass to the north of us late next Tuesday or Wednesday.
This system does not currently pose a threat to the Bay Islands and North Coast of Honduras, but all interests here, should monitor its progress as it proceeds west.
Elsewhere, tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the next 48 hours.
