Again, we will have mostly sunny skies with high level cloudiness. The seas continue to be moderate with wave heights of 1 to 4 feet. Winds remain light and variable at 5 to 15 mph from the ESE. Wind and seas will strengthen later today. Isolated squalls and thunderstorms are possible.
Elsewhere in the tropics:
Hurricane Igor continues north. Julia has completely dissipated. A low pressure system still covers much of the western Gulf of Mexico, southern Texas and northeastern Mexico, influencing our weather. None of these systems pose a threat to the Bay Islands.
The low pressure system designated 94L has become Tropical Storm Lisa. It is centered about 500 miles west of the Cape Verde Islands. It continues to slowly move north.
A new tropical wave over the Windward Islands will move west across the
Eastern Caribbean on Tuesday and Wednesday. Then it will move across
the central Caribbean on Thursday, reaching the Western Caribbean
by this weekend. As of 0800 am EDT, the NHC is giving
this system a 20% chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.
All interests in the Bay Islands and the north coast of Honduras should
closely monitor the development of this system as it moves towards us.
We are at the height of the hurricane season!
Everyone should have their 2010 hurricane preparedness plan
completed and in place!
The air temperatures will be in the mid to high 80s (F) or 27 - 29 (C).
