Tropical wave 95L became tropical storm Matthew yesterday. At 0800 am today, it was about 411 miles ESE of us and 170 miles from Gracias Adios. It is moving W at 16mph. Maximum sustained winds were 50 mph. The pressure was 1000 millibars.
Today, skies will be cloudy with bands of rain. The seas are rough with wave heights of 2 to 4 feet or higher. Winds will be mostly ENE at10 to 15 knots or higher and gusting. Wind and seas will strengthen later today, as TS Matthew approaches.
The islands will feel the full effects of Matthew beginning early tomorrow morning. It will take all day to pass over us as it begins a turn to the WNW and heads for Belize.
It remains a very serious threat to the Bay Islands for this weekend.
It most likely will disrupt air travel over the weekend.
All interests in the Bay Islands should continue to closely monitor
the development of this system as it moves towards us.
The air temperatures will be in the mid to high 80s (F) or 27 - 29 (C).
