For Wednesday, Sept 29, 2010
Our weather is being dominated by Tropical Depression 16. TD16 is expected
to strengthen into a tropical storm before crossing Cuba and making landfall in
Southern Florida.
Today, it will be mostly cloudy with rain. It will gradually clear as TD16 continues
to move north. The winds will be W to NW at 10 to 15 mph and gusting.
Seas are choppy at 2 to 4 feet. Winds and seas locally higher near squalls
and thunderstorms. (See Figs. 1, 2, & 3 below - click on the links to update)
Else where in the tropics
A tropical wave over the central Atlantic located about 975 miles east of the
Windward Islands is producing limited showers and thunderstorms. Development,
if any, of this system is expected to be slow to occur as it moves westward to
west-northwestward at 15 to 20 mph. There is a low chance, 10 percent, of this
system becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours. (See Fig 4 below)
The air temperatures will be in the mid to high 80s (F) or 27 - 29 (C).
Ocean water temperatures are about 85F to 87F or 29C to 30C.
