The Tropical Weather Outlook
For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:
1. There are no tropical cyclones in the Atlantic at this time. The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1st through November 30th.
2. Gulf of Mexico - Strong NW winds and building seas will follow a cold front forecast to move across the NW Gulf on Thu. The front will quickly move over the central and eastern Gulf Thu night into early Fri. High pressure in the wake of the front will shift eastward along 31N through Sat night allowing for fresh southerly flow to develop in the far western Gulf. These winds shift to N central Gulf on Sun as a cold front moves across eastern Texas.
3. Caribbean Sea - High pressure N of the area will maintain fresh to strong trade winds across the much of the central Caribbean through this evening. Winds and seas diminish tonight through Fri night as the high pressure weakens. Strong NE winds will follow a cold front moving into the NW Caribbean Fri night. The front will stall from the Windward Passage to the Gulf of Honduras through Sun...then dissipate early next week. High pressure building N of the front will support increasing winds and building seas throughout much of the central and eastern Caribbean during Sat and through Sun night.
3a. Upper level anticyclonic wind flow spans the entire area, with a ridge that extends from northern Colombia beyond the Yucatan Channel. Comparatively drier air in subsidence is apparent in water vapor imagery, from 70W eastward, and from 20N northward in the NW corner of the Caribbean Sea. 24-HOUR rainfall totals in inches for the period ending at 28/0000 UTC...according to the PAN AMERICAN TEMPERATURE AND PRECIPITATION TABLES...MIATPTPAN/SXCA01 KNHC...are 0.11 in Guadeloupe, and 0.04 in Curacao.
