The Tropical Weather Outlook
For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:
1. There are no tropical cyclones in the Atlantic at this time. The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1st through November 30th.
2. Gulf of Mexico - A thermal trough will enhance winds along the NW Yucatan Peninsula tonight. A ridge dissecting the Gulf waters from the Florida Big Bend to NE Mexico will retract E on Wed allowing a cold front to enter the NW Gulf. The cold front will reach from the Florida Panhandle to the Bay of Campeche, Mexico early Thu and pass through the Straits of Florida late Thu night. Southerly return flow will set up across the entire Gulf late in the upcoming weekend.
3. Caribbean Sea - Nocturnal gale winds expected within 90 NM of the coast of NW coast of Colombia. Otherwise strong Atlantic high pressure will maintain fresh to strong trades to the E of 80W through Sun night...and across the waters W of 80W behind a cold front this weekend.
3a. Broad middle level-to-upper level anticyclonic wind flow covers the Caribbean Sea. An upper level trough starts near 12N61W, and it continues to 11N64W, and 10N69W and 10N75W. Comparatively drier air in subsidence is apparent in water vapor imagery elsewhere across the area. Rainshowers are possible elsewhere across the Caribbean Sea, primarily from 76W eastward. The 24-hour rainfall amounts, for the period ending at 01/0000 UTC...according to the PAN AMERICAN TEMPERATURE AND PRECIPITATION TABLES...MIATPTPAN/SXCA01 KNHC...are: 0.24 in Guadeloupe.
