Today,
skies
will be partly sunny.
Winds
will be ESE in direction at 10 mph to 15 mph this morning. Decreasing
to 10 mph or less, this afternoon and evening. Winds will be light
and variable later today as a strong cold front approaches. Seas will
be choppy and confused at 2 to 4 feet.This morning, satellite imagery shows that the strong, approaching cold front reaches from northern Florida to Vera Cruz, Mexico. It will cross the Yucatan Channel later today...then extend from central Cuba to the Gulf of Honduras by Wednesday evening...and from the Windward Passage to the border of Honduras and Nicaragua late on Thursday. There, it will become stationary and begin to dissipate on Friday.
This is the first, in a series of three cold fronts. Expect increasing cloudiness, rain and cool, strong, north winds with the passage of each of these fronts.
The air temperatures will range from the high 70s (ºF) to the mid 80s (ºF) or 24ºC to 26ºC.
Ocean water temperatures are 79°F to 80°F or 25ºC to 26ºC. Visibility is 5 to 80 ft.
The SAL (Saharan Air Layer) has changed in area and in density. See Figs. 9 and 9a below.
