Today, skies will be sunny with some high level cloudiness and haze. Winds will be strong and persistent from SE to E all day. This morning, wind strength will decrease from 25 mph to 15 mph or less. Then they will increase to 15 to 25 mph later this afternoon and evening. Higher wind gusts are possible, late at night or during the very early morning hours. The seas will be rough and choppy at 2 to 4 feet or greater.
Early this morning, a weak, nearly stationary cold front reaches from Tampa Bay, Florida to Galveston Bay, Texas. It will dissipate by late tonight. Another stronger cold front will follow it and reach from the Florida Panhandle to the NW Yucatan on Friday morning.
Expect winds and seas here to decrease on Thursday and Friday, as these cold fronts move SE across the Gulf of Mexico.
