How to use this page:
The title of each of the figures below is linked to the page where the information originates.
Since I write and post early in the day and generally do not update the page until the next morning; by clicking on the link, it allows you, the viewer, to get the latest information.
This is not only convenient but allows you to track weather events such as cold fronts and hurricanes from a single web page.
In addition, in the right column are two very useful widgets. The first is a tropical weather tracker which shows you the location and forecast track of active tropical storm systems.
The second is a trip planner...yesteryear's weather at a glance. This widget lets you check historic weather for your trip dates.
Friday May 31, 2013
Today, skies will be mostly sunny. Seas will be choppy at 2 to 4 feet. Winds will be ESE in direction during the day at 10 mph to 15 mph; increasing to 20 mph to 25 mph from the E this afternoon and evening.
The surface remnants of Barbara currently across the Bay of Campeche are expected dissipate today...while the low to mid-level remnants will linger into tonight. These remnants are forecast to strengthen due to the interaction with a mid-latitude upper trough Saturday through Sunday.
This should help reinforce the surface trough over the SW Gulf of Mexico this weekend which is expected to meander eastward towards the Yucatan Peninsula Monday and Tuesday. A weak cold front is expected to move into the far NW Gulf of Mexico Sunday...then reach from near the western Florida Panhandle to 28N93W and stationary to the far western Gulf of Mexico by Monday. The front will weaken from near Apalachicola, Florida to western Gulf of Mexico by Tuesday.
The air temperatures will range from the high 70s (ºF) to the high 80s (ºF) or 25ºC to 31ºC.
Ocean water temperatures are 79 to 82ºF or 26 to 27ºC. Visibility is generally 20 to 80 feet.
