The Tropical Weather Outlook
On Wednesday, June 01. 2011, the Atlantic hurricane season officially begins. This year, it maybe off to a running start. As shown in the Graphicast above, and predicted by at least three (3) computer models, a tropical disturbance may form SE of Nicauraga between now and June 1st.
Ocean water temperatures are about 29C which is high enough to support tropical storm formation. See Fig 4 above. To date, high wind shear has prevented TS formation but that is predicted to decrease this week.
Interests in the Bay Islands and on the North Coast of Honduras should monitor the weather for further development.
The air temperatures will be in the 80s to low 90s (F) or 27 to 30 (C).
At depth, ocean water temperatures are about 82F to 84F or 28C to 29C . Visibility is generally 60 to 80 feet.
