Today, skies will be mostly sunny. Winds will be ESE during the day at 15 to 20 mph. Seas will be rough at 2 to 4 feet or higher. This afternoon and evening winds will increase to 20 to 25 mph from the E.
Divers should exercise caution exiting and entering the boats, especially on the afternoon dives.
A strong cold front is forecast to push into the Gulf of Mexico late today. It currently is not expected to reach here. However, another strong cold front will enter the western Gulf of Mexico Monday and is forecast to reach the Yucatan and here by Wednesday or Thursday of next week. Both these fronts will have strong north winds behind them.

The SAL (Saharan Air Layer) has decreased in area and in density. See Figs. 9 and 9a below.
The air temperatures will range from the high 70s (ºF) to the mid 80s (ºF) or 24ºC to 26ºC.
Ocean water temperatures are 80°F to 82°F or 25ºC to 26ºC. Visibility is 10 to 60 ft.

Today, skies will be mostly sunny. Winds will be SE during the day at 10 to 12 mph or less. Seas will be moderate at 2 to 4 feet. This afternoon and evening winds will increase to 15 to 25 mph from the E.
Another strong cold front is forecast to push into the Gulf of Mexico early Friday.
The air temperatures will range from the low 70s (ºF) to the low 80s (ºF) or 24ºC to 26ºC.
Ocean water temperatures from the surface to 100 feet are 79°F/25ºC or less. Visibility from the surface down to 100 feet is low.

The SAL (Saharan Air Layer) has increased in area. See Figs. 9 and 9a below.

Again today, skies will be mostly cloudy. There will be occasional heavy, intermittent, rain showers, as cool, high pressure air continues to push down from the north. Expect the rains to continue as long as cold, high pressure air dominates the atmosphere to the north and until the ocean atmospheric system reaches its winter equilibrium state. At depths of 100 feet or greater ocean water temperature remains high at 82ºF to 84ºF. Winds will be mostly NW in direction, at 10 to 12 mph or less. Seas will be moderate at 2 to 4 feet.
Another strong cold front is forecast to push into the Gulf of Mexico Thursday and Friday.
The air temperatures will range from the low 70s (ºF) to the low 80s (ºF) or 24ºC to 26ºC.
Ocean water temperatures from the surface to 100 feet are 79°F/25ºC or less. Visibility from the surface down to 100 feet is poor. Visibility above the thermocline will remain poor until the easterly trade winds return and the freshwater and runoff are mixed into the oceanic water column.
The SAL (Saharan Air Layer) has increased in area and decreased in density. See Figs. 9 and 9a below.

Again today, skies will be mostly cloudy. There will be occasional heavy intermittent rain showers, as the remnants of a strong cold front remain stalled as a shear line from the middle of Cuba to NE Honduras and cool high pressure air continues to push down from the north. Winds west of the shear line will be mostly NW in direction, at 10 to 12 mph. Seas will be moderate at 2 to 4 feet.
The stationary front/shear line will continue to diffuse...with winds and seas gradually diminishing.
A weak cold front is forecast to push into the Gulf of Mexico Monday and Tuesday.
The air temperatures will range from the low 70s (ºF) to the low 80s (ºF) or 24ºC to 26ºC. With wind chill, it will feel like the mid 60s F, especially when exiting the water.
Ocean water temperatures are 79°F to 81ºF or 25ºC to 26ºC. Visibility is generally 0 to 80 feet.

The Tropical Weather Outlook
There are no tropical cyclones in the Atlantic at this time and tropical cyclone formation is not expected in the next 24 to 48 hours. The hurricane season in this hemisphere officially ended yesterday.
The SAL, has decreased slightly in area and density in the last 24 hours. See Figs. 9 and 9a above.
